Marcus Aurelius was a Roman emperor and the last of the “Five Good Emperors”. His full name as an emperor is Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus. He lived in April 26, 121 to March 17, 180. Marcus Aurelius is famous of his stoic philosophies and of writings. He wrote a series of book called “The Meditations” which were reminders to himself of ideas he must bear in mind.

Marcus Aurelius was also featured in the Hollywood movie – Gladiator starring Russel Crow. The character of Caesar Marcus Aurelius was played by hollywood actor, Richard Harris. The film, Gladiator was based on real events before and after the reign of Marcus Aurelius but some historical deviations were made. The character, Marcus Aurelius was based on the real Caesar Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus – an emperor of Rome who desires a return to Republican government but died before his wish is fulfilled. While the character – Maximus is a fictional name but was based on the real life Narcissus, the real killer of Commodus.
